The 2024 Commission work programme and its priorities in the field of migration and home affairs

Every year, the Commission adopts its work programme setting out the list of the most important actions it will take during the year ahead. The programme informs the public and the other institutions about new initiatives. It also withdraws pending proposals and reviews existing EU legislation.

In the area of migration and home affairs, the 2024 Commission Work Programme includes a focus on:

• Formal adoption of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum;
• Fight against migrant smuggling;
• Strengthening the Security Union;
• Implementation of the EU roadmap to fight drug trafficking and organised crime.
